Dear Empowered Community,
Welcome to February, the month of love! At Empowered Service, love goes beyond words, it’s about acceptance, patience, and celebrating every unique journey within our autism community. Whether you are a parent, caregiver, educator, or supporter, your love and dedication make a world of difference.
This month, we embrace love in all forms: the love in small victories, the love in understanding, and the love in simply being present. We recognize that expressing emotions may look different for each child, and that’s okay. Love is found in moments of connection, a shared smile, a comforting touch, a favorite song on repeat.
In this issue, we’ve prepared:
🤍 Fun sensory-friendly activities to strengthen family bonds
🤍 A simple Valentine’s baking recipe to explore textures and flavors
🤍 Engaging games to encourage emotional expression and connection
🤍 Expert tips on nurturing social and emotional growth
Let’s make this February a month of joy, understanding, and meaningful moments. Love is not about perfection, it’s about being present, being patient, and celebrating every milestone.
You are seen. You are valued. You are loved.
With warmth and appreciation,
The Empowered Service Team

Share the Love: Glass Hearts Hidden at Tualatin Parks
In February, the Tualatin Parks and Recreation Department is spreading joy and warmth through its special program, Share the Love.
This delightful initiative encourages park visitors to embark on a heartwarming adventure as they search for intricately hand-blown glass hearts scattered throughout Tualatin. As the community comes together to embrace the spirit of love, the 2025 event promises a fun adventure for all.
Let’s dive into the details of this heart-filled celebration!

.
Share the Love: Glass Hearts Hidden at Tualatin Parks
Ready to go on a fun adventure during the month of love? From February 1-28, there are 500 glass hearts are placed in City of Tualatin parks and greenways.
Throughout the month of February, hearts are hidden in these Tualatin parks and greenways:
Atfalati Park
Browns Ferry Park
Ibach Park
Jurgens Park
Little Woodrose Natural Area
Lafky Park
Las Casitas Park
Commons Park
Community Park
Lake of the Commons
Sweek Pond Natural Area
Chieftain Dakota Greenway
Hedges Creek Greenway
Hi-West Greenway

There is no specific day of the week or time of day the hearts are hidden. Also, volunteers hide a new batch of hearts each week. Before you being your search, keep in mind you don’t need to climb or dig to find them.
If you find a heart, feel free to keep it or hide it again for someone else to discover. Snap a photo and post it with hashtag #ShareTheLoveTualatin.
Also, do you what makes these hearts extra special? Each one is created by glass artist Timothy Jaquet of Olympia, Washington.
You can find out more by visiting the City of Tualatin’s website.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, but there’s good news! Many things that raise the risk of heart problems can be improved by making healthy choices. Here are a few simple tips to care for your heart:
- Get Moving: Try to get 150 minutes of exercise a week. This could be walking, dancing, or swimming—whatever gets you active!
- Eat Healthy Foods: Fill your plate with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Try to cut back on salty, sugary, or processed foods.
- Check Your Numbers: Keep an eye on your blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar.
- Relax: Stress can hurt your heart, so take time for things you enjoy, like spending time with friends, doing something creative, or just relaxing.
For more tips on heart health, visit www.heart.org (American Heart Association). Let’s make February a month to take care of our hearts!
