We are thrilled to invite you to our August Resources Please mark your calendars for a delightful day of fun, food, and friendship.

Location: River Shelter Park, Memorial Park Forest Trail, Wilsonville, OR 97070
Join us as we create more wonderful memories together in the beautiful setting of River Shelter Park. This picnic is not just about enjoying a sunny summer day, but also about celebrating our community and the connections we share.

Resource Highlights
- Start Right School Supplies: If you need assistance accessing school supplies, notify me by Thursday June 8th with the full names of your child(ren) and their grade this Fall. If you live in the Wilsonville area, there’s a flyer attached for a school supplies program there.
- Liv with Purpose Family Carnival – a fun inclusive family carnival designed specifically to celebrate individuals with special needs and their families. August 4th 1pm-3pm. See attached flyer.
- Liv with Purpose Laser Tag on August 21st 6-8pm. See attached flyer for more details.
- We continue to experience high temperatures. August Resources Scroll down for ways to access an a/c unit for your home.
- Clackamas County Fair – People with disabilities can go to the fair for $2 on Wednesday, August 14th. Their caregiver can get in for free.
Parent Training/Educational Opportunities
- Your Child’s Plan for Special Education: IEP Basics – Katie Jackson M.S. Ed, educational advocate and consultant, will provide an overview of the IEP process. August 6th. Virtual workshop.
- Preparing For Back to School-Setting My Child Up for Success – identify ways to start setting your child up for success before they start their school journey! We will identify tools and supports such as visual supports and visual stories; identify home structure and scheduling; and promote strategies for success. August 8th. Virtual workshop.
- Creating Healthier Habits – learn how to build habits as a neurotypical and a neurodiverse individual. A presentation on methods to create the structure you want and need. Virtual training on August 13th
- Preparing for the Unknown – Trauma Informed Strategies to Prepare Kids to Navigate New Life Experiences – caregivers will gain practical insights and tools aimed at supporting children in acknowledging and navigating their emotions amidst change. Virtual training on August 19th
- Tips and Tools Supporters – workshop for anyone in a support role caring for people with disabilities of any age. Using person-centered practices, explore how to support someone during self-care tasks and activities of daily living. Virtual training on August 20th
Free Naloxone Training in Molalla on August 5th. See attached flyer for more details.
Activities/Events
- Touch-a-Truck – see the vehicles used throughout the City of Canby, in action and up close at the Touch-a-Truck event. Enjoy live demonstrations, and good times with friends, family, and neighbors. August 6th, 5pm-7pm. Flyer attached.
- 30th Anniversary at Swindells Resource Center on August 17th. Face painting, games, crafts and treats! See attached flyer for more details.
- Movies in the Park NCPRD
- Kids Bowl Free – We can order vouchers through our program for kids within the correct age brackets. The participating bowling alleys: KingPins – Beaverton, Super Play – Beaverton, Mt. Hood Lanes – Gresham, Milwaukie Bowl – Milwaukie, and KingPins – Portland.
- Cultural Passes – visit the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, Evergreen Aviation Museum, the Japanese Gardens, or other destinations. All you need is a library card.
- Clackamas Parenting Together Calendar
- Autism Society of Oregon Event Calendar – ASO provides resources, education, advocacy and support for individuals and families.
- Youth Music Project – classes for all ages and abilities, including various music camps. Watch for Fall registration coming soon.
- Clackamas County Library Events – so many free community events at all public libraries—check out the Summer Reading Program, Cultural Passes to local attractions, Seed Library, Library of Things…. This page lets you sort by events for Adults, Children, and teens at all county libraries.
- North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District
- Special Olympics Oregon – year-round sports training and competition for children and adults.
Food Resources
- Oregon Summer EBT – a grocery benefits program to help families buy food for their school-aged children during summer while school is out. If you already have SNAP, TANF, or OHP this benefit should automatically be added to your EBT Card. If you believe your child is eligible for Summer EBT but was not signed up, you can still apply.
- Free Summer Lunch Program – search by zip code. There will be free activities and meals available through the summer. While this is technically for lower-income families, there are no questions asked. Anyone that lives in the area can attend. In fact, the more meals they serve, the better it is for future funding

Mental Health Resources
- Clackamas County Crisis Line – provides 24/7, free, and confidential support. 503-655-8585
- Crisis Text Line – Text HOME to 741741 – 24/7 line.
- National Suicide Prevention Lifeline – provides 24/7, free, and confidential support. Military veterans may press ‘1’ for specialized care. 800-273-TALK
- Reach Out Oregon – an organization that offers support to families with children experiencing mental, emotional, and behavioral health challenges.
- Oregon YouthLine – a teen-to-teen crisis support and help line. Please let your teens know that there are peers available to listen and support them. Call, text, and chat options are available.

- Suicide Survivor Support Group – Youth Era Drop-in Center. Tuesdays at 4 pm. For individuals ages 14-18. Informational flyers are attached.
Air conditioners available for eligible Oregonians
 Oregon’s summer heat waves have been getting worse in recent years—a trend that is expected to continue, and one that can seriously harm people’s health.
Air conditioners are a great way to cool your home and stay healthy, August Resources but they can be expensive. OHA offers a few ways people may receive free air-conditioners. Oregon Health Plan (OHP) members: People enrolled in Oregon Health Plan (OHP/Medicaid) may be eligible to receive air conditioners in one of two ways.

Non-OHP members, including Medicare recipients:OHA’s Air Conditioner and Air Filter Deployment Program partners with local community organizations to distribute devices to qualified people at risk from extreme heat and/or wildfire smoke. We are finalizing this year’s list of participating partners, August Resources but a significant change this year is people will be able to fill out an online form requesting an eligibility screening. If a person is determined to be eligible, devices will be shipped via FedEx to their home and, if needed, set up for them.
